Inspire Girls in Sport at the Lake Mac Women’s Sport Festival

Join Lake Macquarie City Council’s Women in Sport Festival from Saturday 4 March to Saturday 11 March.

This inclusive event held over a week, offers something for everyone, from curious sporting newcomers to aspiring professional athletes. Come along and get involved!

The festival will offer something for everyone including a combination of talks, entertainment and hands-on activities for girls and women of all ages.

Choose from a range of exciting events, including a gourmet breakfast with Jelena Dokic, former tennis champion, Live Music Lake Mac presents Clare Bowditch with special guest Georgie Winchester and a Sport Family Open Day.

Enjoy a family fun day out at Try a Sport day on Sunday 5 March! There will be a number of local sporting organisations keen to test your ball skills, challenge your coordination and inspire you to take up a new sport or become reacquainted with an old one. It will a great opportunity for girls and women to come out and watch or try a variety of sports, without any cost or commitment.

There will be something for everyone, each stall has a fun, interactive component that can engage all members of the family, including the Jets Inflatable targets and Tennis NSW’s mini courts and giant target! 

The Try a Sport Family Day will be located next to the Homegrown Markets in Speers Point Park. 

The festival will showcase a range of sports matches, workshops, clinics and live entertainment and will be a great opportunity for girls and women to come out and watch or try a variety of sports, without any cost or commitment.

Join Lake Macquarie City Council at Charlestown Square for an afternoon of celebration and empowerment to reflect on the progress of Women in Sport through the lens of fashion and performance. 

Thanks to the Australia Museum of Fashion, you’ll will be able to view a collection of vintage sportwear and see how the changes in the way women engage in sport and physical activity has shaped what we wear today.

There will be an activewear fashion parade, modelled by Newcastle Jets players, showcasing items from Charlestown Square retailers who will also be present and part of the expo.
