Swimming Lessons Newcastle

Arnold’s Swim Centre 

Arnolds Swim Centre at The Junction offers a range of kids swimming lessons. Group lessons are offered, starting with baby water awareness (babies 4 to 6 months) and baby swim classes (6 months to 2 years), in which parents are in the water with their child. Baby swimming lessons are in the Mineral Magna Pool which is heated to 33 degrees celcius. Kids can then enrol in Kindy and Beginners. Children learn with their own body weight and do not use floatation devices.

Offering lessons from beginner to National Rep Competition Swimmer, classes are run morning and afternoon 7 days a week and private lessons are available. More information: Arnold’s Swim Centre website

Balance Collective 

This facility hosts swim lessons in multiple group sessions. Classes are available for children 6 months of age and older and all students are enrolled on a school term basis. Casual lessons are subject to availability during the term. 

A parent or carer is required in the water for both Aqua Babies (6 months – 15 months) and Aqua Tots (16 months to 2.5 years). Classes without a parent or carer commence from age 2.5 and continue with school-age programs for kids 5.5+. Classes are held at a variety of times from Monday to Sunday. Private lessons are available upon request and Squad training is also offered for kids who qualify.

Pools are heated year-round. The 12.5 metre Program Pool is heated to 30 degrees while the 25 metre Training Pool is heated to 28 degrees. More information: Swim Balance website

BlueFit Swimming 

BlueFit offers a range of swim lessons at outdoor facilities at Lambton Pool, Mayfield Pool, Stockton Pool and Wallsend Pool from January to April and September to December. 

Infant programs are for babies and kids aged 4 months to 3 years with a focus on water confidence and safety skills. Learn to swim classes are offered for preschool and school-aged kids as well as dedicated classes for adolescents. 

BlueFit Swimming has a specific focus on water confidence and the basic skills of swimming. They provide a clear progression from babies through to swim club and squad.

Fins Swim School

Fins Swim School, located at Kotara offer 6 swimming programs tailored for different levels and ages and 30 years coaching experience. Their programs are designed to build a high level technique and structured so that the best results are achieved in the quickest time possible. Fins offer a Free 4-week Baby Program for babies aged 3-9 months. Babies then move through the 4-stage Infant Program and on to the Swim Survival Program for children aged 3+. The Forum

The Forum Swim Academy at the University of Newcastle (Callaghan Campus) offers swim lessons promoting water awareness, confidence, safety, fitness, stroke development. They teach without the use of floatation aids. Swimming lessons are available seven mornings per week and in the afternoon from Monday to  Friday.

Classes are available for children 6 months of age and older and all students are enrolled on a school term basis. A swim assessment is required for all new enrolments. Children aged under 2 don’t require an assessment and can booked directly into Yellow 1. Swim assessments are free and there is no need to book – just drop in during the assessment period.

Mauro’s

Located in Adamstown, Mauro’s offers learn to swim classes for children. They offer year-round lessons in an indoor pool heated to 30 degrees Celcius.

Classes are available for children 6 months and older. Starting class is for babies and infants (6 months to 3 years). In the classes for children under 12 months old, the focus is on water familiarisation, skills, and safety in the water. Children up to 3 years who show confidence and skill, will move into the ‘without parent’ class. Kids can progress through swimming lessons levels as they develop their swimming ability. Swimming Lessons Lake Macquarie

AquaStars

AquaStars located in Warners Bay specialise in small group swimming lessons and parent/child swimming lessons for infants, toddlers, and primary school aged children. They offer lessons for Toddlers and Preschool aged students every morning and afternoon from Monday to Friday and Saturday and Sunday mornings. 

Floatation aids like “back bubbles” or “arm floats” flotation aids are not used to teach students. The classes for Toddlers and Preschool aged children are very popular and have a maximum of three or four kids per class. Swimming lessons for school aged students are held every morning and afternoon from Monday to Friday and on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Staff are fully trained and specialised AUSTSWIM/Swim Australia accredited teachers.

Coughlans Swim School

Couglans Swim School in Warners Bay offers a range of kids swim lessons. Group lessons are offered, starting with Parent and Baby classes (babies 4 months to 2/12 years). The group lessons look to develop essential water awareness skills in a fun and friendly environment with lots of singing and games! Classes are held in the hydrotherapy pool which is heated to 34 degrees celsius. Parent and baby classes are offered Monday to Saturday.

East Lakes Swim Centre

East Lakes Swim Centre located in Bennetts Green provides small group swimming lessons and parent/child swimming lessons for infants, toddlers, and primary school aged children. 

Classes start with the Aquatic Familiarisation class for children between 6 months and 2 ½ years old with parents accompanying their children in the water. This level Starfish levels aim to achieve basic aquatic skills, propulsive movements, good breath control, promotion of a healthy water confidence, preparation of detachment from parent in readiness for independent swimming. The program does not use flotation devices.

The preschool program teaches swimming without a parent in the water building on aquatic confidence and self-preservation skills.

The school age program operates each weekday afternoon and Saturday mornings. The school age program begins at the water confidence level for those children with little to no swimming experience or confidence then progressing into six learn to swim and stroke refinement levels.  More information: East Lakes Swim Centre website

Jump! Cardiff

Jump! Cardiff provides small group swimming lessons in a heated purpose-built indoor pool. Babies 3 months and older can start at JUMP in Ducklings, the swimming early education baby class. This class consists of lots of songs, activities and games to make learning to swim fun for you and your child. As children develop their swimming levels, they progress up a level. The JUMP! program consists of 10 levels. This begins with an intensive babies’ program all the way through to stroke development. Lake Mac Swim Centres

Lake Macquarie City Council operates four pools with swimming lessons: Charlestown, Swansea, West Wallsend and Speers Point Swim Centres.

Lake Mac Swim Centres deliver fun and affordable Learn to Swim programs that will teach your child the lifelong skill of swimming, so they can be comfortable, strong and happy in the water. 

Group lessons are offered, starting with Starfish (6 months to 2.5 years) which is an infant and parent class. Instructors provide guidance for parents on ways to hold your child in an aquatic environment and program through activities that facilitate your child’s early aquatic learning in an atmosphere that is fun and stimulating. Kids can then progress to independent swimming lessons to learn to swim on their own. Classes are offered for babies, preschoolers and school aged-kids. School holiday intensive programs are also offered as one-week blocks during each school holiday program. Private lessons are also available.

West Wallsend Swim Centre is open year-round and features an indoor heated 25 metre pool. Charlestown Swim Centre is open year-round is and has an outdoor heated 25 metre and 50 metre pools. Valentine Swim School

Valentine Swim School located in Valentine provides small group swimming lessons and parent/child swimming lessons for infants, toddlers, and primary school-aged children. They teach children (from 4 months of age) to adults how to swim safely and confidently. With three heated pools, swimming lessons are run all year round.

They offer parent and child classes in which you will interact in the water with your child under the guidance of instructors. Students learn awareness and confidence from an early age in a relaxed and enjoyable environment. Using patience, practice and repetition, instructors will help your child progress to pre-school learn to swim.

In Learn to Swim, kids will have already developed confidence in the water and are ready to interact in a class environment without an accompanying adult. Your child will learn the correct kicking, stroke and breathing techniques, as well as water safety skills

Begin 2 Swim in Greenhills offers kids swim lessons teaching from 6 months through to adults. They offer small group or one on one lessons in an indoor heated pool (30 – 32°C all year round). Just Like Fish

Just Like Fish in Rutherford provides small group swimming lessons and parent/child swimming lessons for infants/toddlers, preschoolers, and primary school-aged children in an indoor facility. They teach children (from 3 months of age) to adults, water survival skills, awareness and how to swim safely and confidently.

Their classes begin begins with the Water Babies, Water Tots and Water Kids program. This is the water familiarisation component of the Swim and Survive program, designed specifically for children aged 6 months to 3 years with a parent required in the water for all levels. Kids can then progress to independent swimming lessons to learn to swim on their own. They also offer squad program for kids who want to develop strength, fitness and further develop technique in all four competitive swimming strokes. Little Swim Stars

Little Swim Stars in East Maitland provides small group swimming lessons and parent/child swimming lessons for infants/toddlers, preschoolers, and primary school-aged children in a heated indoor pool facility. Their classes begin begins with the Aquababies program designed specifically for children aged 6 months to 2 1/2 years in which a parent or carer is required to accompany each child at all times in the water. 

Kids can then progress to independent swimming lessons to learn to swim on their own. For these lessons, parents can watch from the comfort of the parents  waiting room which equipped with TV, air-conditioning and tea/coffee making facilities. Maitland Aquatics

Maitland City Council operates two pools that offer swimming lessons: Maitland Aquatic Centre and East Maitland Aquatic Centre. The swim program provides children from 6 months to 14 years with essential water safety skills and understanding as well as learning to swim in a fun, professional and supportive environment. 

The program begins with the Wonder program. This is the water familiarisation component of the Swim and Survive program, designed specifically for children aged 6 months to 3 years. Wonder is a child-centred program which is taught with parent or carer and child together in the water.

All instructors are AustSwim accredited, with classes designed for beginners through to stroke development and fitness swimming levels. The Learn to Swim program is conducted during school terms, as well as an intensive program during the January school holidays. Private lessons are also available.

Swimming Lessons Port Stephens

Lakeside Leisure Centre

Located at Raymond Terrace, Lakeside Leisure Centre is a modern facility staffed by friendly, committed and qualified professionals. Their Learn to Swim programs include Aqua Playgroup and GoSwim Swimming Lessons for children. The GoSwim curriculum covers seven areas of learning that are combined and presented as activities to enhance student development. Babies and toddlers lessons take place in their indoor pool, heated to 32 degrees all year round with a hydrotherapy spa seat area and with a toddler beach area where the little ones can play under the fountain and various bubble spouts. Tilligerry Aquatic Centre

Enjoy swimming lessons with your kids at Tilligerry Aquatic Centre in Mallabulla. The Centre features a heated 25 metre outdoor pool. The centre offers Splish Splash Aqua Playgroup at Tilligerry Aquatic Centre! Lessons are designed for babies six months and under, catering for infant participants attending with their parents/guardians or appropriate adult carers. Sessions are held weekly and involve a 30-minute routine consisting of holds, floating, pre-conditioning, submersion and water safety.For older kids, Tomaree Aquatic Centre offers weekly swimming and water safety program between October and March. Enjoy swimming lessons with your baby at Tomaree Aquatic Centre in Salamander Bay. The Centre features a 50 metre outdoor heated pool. The GOSwim swim program helps children become comfortable and confident around water. Lessons are designed for babies 6 months to 3.5 years, catering for infant, toddler and preschool participants attending with their parents/guardians or appropriate adult carers.
