| |

The Active Kids program is ending soon so use up your 2023 voucher. The $100 Active Kids Voucher program previously provided families in NSW with 2 x $100 voucher per school-aged child each year, to help meet the cost of getting kids involved in community sport.

The Active Kids program is funded until June 2023 so redeem your voucher now. It can be applied to after-school and weekend sport including swimming lessons and since December 2022 can now be used on school holiday sport and recreation.

The Active Kids program, launched in 2018, aims to increase participation of school-enrolled children in sport and physical activity by providing parents with vouchers to help cover the cost of registration and membership fees.

The Active Kids program is funded until June 2023. The current voucher, released on 1 January 2023, is valid until Friday 30 June 2023.

JUNE 2023 UPDATE:  The NSW Government will continue the Active and Creative Kids voucher programs more sustainable by introducing a new means-tested scheme from Term 1 next year. This will be for families receiving Family Tax Benefit Part A. The new voucher will be for $50 and will be issued twice a year, at the start of terms 1 and 3, beginning in 2024. It will cover activities currently available under both the Active Kids and Creative Kids voucher programs.

As an interim measure, the current Active Kids and Creative Kids vouchers will be extended from July 1 2023 until the new scheme is in place from 1 February 2024. The interim vouchers will be to the value of $50 for school-aged children.

How does the Active Kids program work?

The NSW Government provides a $100 voucher to parents/guardians of school enrolled children. The $100 voucher can be used for registration and participation costs for sport and fitness activities. The initiative aims to reduce barriers to participation and help change the physical activity behaviours of children and young people in NSW.

The current voucher, released on 1 January 2023, is valid until Friday 30 June 2023.

Who is eligible to claim the Active Kids voucher?

Every child (4.5 – 18 years old) enrolled in school from Kindergarten to Year 12 are eligible for an Active Kids Voucher. This includes those who are home-schooled or enrolled in secondary school education at TAFE NSW.

It is not means-tested and one voucher will be available for every child in the family until the program ends. There are no limits on the number of applications per family, as long as every child is enrolled in school.

If you’re looking for vouchers for younger kids, the NSW Government has introduced First Lap Voucher for swimming lessons for kids aged 3 – 6. Here’s all the details for the First Lap scheme.

How long does an Active Kids voucher last?

The current voucher, released on 1 January 2023, is valid until Friday 30 June 2023.

The voucher can be used for registration or membership fees for structured activities by registered providers of over a minimum 8 weeks if delivered during the school term or a minimum 5 sessions or a minimum of 4 hours, if delivered during school holidays that provide a moderate to vigorous level of physical activity, for example:

  • swimming lessons

The vouchers will be redeemable through approved sport, fitness and physical activity providers upon registration.
