It’s the most wonderful time of the year and to celebrate, Newcastle Permanent is bringing Christmas Under the Stars to King Edward Park on Saturday 17 December.
The free event kicks off at 5pm and will include local artists singing your favourite carols, heaps of fun activities for the kids, free popcorn and a special Christmas movie.
There will be food trucks at the park providing a variety of delicious food and drink options, or attendees can bring along their own picnic dinner to enjoy.
There are also whispers a jolly man in a big red suit will be making an appearance.
The G-rated feature presentation, The Grinch (2018), will begin after sundown, with the natural amphitheatre of King Edward Park sure to provide the perfect location and atmosphere.
Newcastle Permanent CEO Bernadette Inglis said she was looking forward to restarting this Hunter tradition for the first time since 2019.
“It’s always such a great night – singing carols, sharing popcorn and watching a family- friendly Christmas movie, and we’re so delighted to be bringing it back,” said Ms Inglis.
“There’s nothing quite like an Australian Christmas, shared with friends and family in the great outdoors, soaking up our glorious summer weather.
“So be sure to bring the whole family to be part of what promises to be our best Christmas Under the Stars yet!
“Christmas Under the Stars will mark the start of our annual Cinema Under the Stars tour of regional NSW, as we bring a free film event to 11 towns across our footprint.”
There will also be a FREE shuttle bus service running between the Bar Beach Car Park and King Edward Park and between Bolton St Car Park and King Edward Park from 4.00pm –11.59pm. The drop off and pick up point will be along The Terrace next to the park.
