Enjoy a day out and take your babies and kids to the movies! Whether it’s Hoyts, Reading, Event or other cinema, there’s a large choice around Newcastle, Lake Macquarie & Hunter region catering to families.

If you have young babies who can sleep or feed, enjoy Bring your Baby or Baby’s Day Out sessions. For older kids, enjoy family time watching a G or PG rated movie at all of the movie theatres. Reading Cinemas Charlestown & Maitland

Each Wednesday morning, Reading Cinemas at Charlestown Square and Maitland presents Baby’s Day Out. Relax and enjoy a movie without worrying about feeding in the dark or those unexpected hissy-fits. The lights are dimmed so that you can see what you’re doing. Note that Baby’s Day Out sessions do not run during school holidays or on Public Holidays. Entry is free for up to two children under 5 when accompanied by a paying adult.

Event Cinemas Glendale & Kotara

Get out of the house to see a movie and take along your squirming, gurgling, fidgeting, bawling bundle of joy. Event Cinemas at Glendale and Kotara offer Bring Your Baby sessions weekly on Wednesdays at 12:30pm.  It’s not just mums who are invited. Any adult carer – mum, dad, grandma, grandpa, auntie, uncle and the babysitter are welcome.

Lights are dimmed so that you can still see what you are doing when feeding. Prams are not allowed to be taken into the cinema but staff will store them safely for you during the film. Please note: Bring Your Baby sessions are not held during school holidays.

Heddon Greta Drive-In

Enjoy a drive-in movie at Heddon Greta Drive-in. They screen movies every Friday and Saturday evening, and 7 nights during school holidays (except early December). You’ll need a car and an FM radio, either in your car or a portable FM radio.

Newcastle Permanent Cinema Under the Stars

Newcastle Permanent Cinema Under the Stars organises free outdoor family movies during the summer in Newcastle, Speers Point, Maitland, Cessnock, Port Stephens and Singleton. Gates open at 5.30pm and screening starts at sundown. Fantastic live music kicks the evening off alongside other family entertainment.
