Kids books are a popular choice for presents. This year, support local and buy a book from a local author or illustrator. The Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Hunter region is full of talented individuals who have written or illustrated a wonderful selection of children’s books suitable for all ages.

Carmen Allen

Carmen Allen is a local kids books author who has written a series of chapter books about Molly Greenwood. Her latest book is Molly’s Spy Mission.

A local Paediatric Feeding Speech Pathologist, Valerie Gent has written a book for all parents who worry about their preschoolers and their food intake. (The gorgeous illustrations are by local illustrator Kirrili Lonergan).⁠

Jenni is a local freelance illustrator.
