If you’re looking for a large park that combines sports and play, head to Pasterfield Sports Complex in Cameron Park. This area was opened in 2018 by Lake Macquarie City Council to provide sports and recreation facilities to the community.
This huge community area combines a playground, fitness area, netball courts, skate park and an AFL and cricket field.
For kids who love to climb, there’s a massive climbing structure that will keep them occupied for ages. It is big and heaps of fun for kids to climb all over it.
Further down, there’s a large playground with a variety of play equipment suitable for all age groups.
For kids who love to swing, there’s swings including baby ones for those with little ones. There’s also a group swing if they want to swing with others.
There’s “Fort Pasterfield” in which kids can clamber through. This contains different sized slides.
There’s also a musical section that kids can play on. There’s a zxylophone that they can bang on as well as a selection of drums.
There’s also a spinner and wobblies
Between the climbing area and playground are toilets, shelters and barbecue facilities.
This area is slightly raised so parents can watch one kid play in the playground and another in the courts area.
Down below, there’s netball courts and a basketball court. It’s also a great area for kids to ride bikes and scooters. If they like to skate, there’s also the street-style skate park.
If you feel like working out, there’s the fitness area located near to the car park with fitness equipment.
NwK Verdict: It’s a fantastic multi-activity area no matter what your kids are interested in. Bring some food and you could end up staying for hours.
