Estabar
The gelato at Estabar is made weekly using Single Origin milk, cream by Little Big Dairy and seasonal fruit. Fruits are sourced from local growers. Grab one scoop or two and head across the road to enjoy the view of glorious Newcastle Beach. Estabar also sell take-home tubs.

G & G Gelato
They don’t have a webpage and you won’t find them on social media, but if you are strolling Newcastle’s East End, don’t blink and miss this authentic Italian gelato bar located on Hunter Street, opposite the historic Old Newcastle Post Office building. Grab a table streetside or keep strolling to beautiful Pacific Park. Many claim G&G’s serve Newcastle’s best gelato. They’re definitely worth a visit to find out!

The Hood Milk Bar
Located in chic The Junction, this bespoke milk bar serves gelato and sorbet, freshly made on-site, in either a cone or a cup. For an extra indulgence, you can add a melted chocolate fountain on top. If their gelato leaves you wanting more you can also buy take-home cartons. The Hood also serve up some pretty amazing milkshakes, all made using their own gelato. Try their popular dark chocolate gelato.

Jim’s Dairy Delite
Jim’s is a Newy icon and has been around longer than most of us have been alive. In fact, Jim’s Dairy Delite opened in May 1957 and are still in the same familiar spot, on the corner of Tudor and Webster Streets, Hamilton. Although they no longer serve their original Dairy Delite Ice Cream, you can grab a Peter’s ice cream or try one of their famous ‘secret ingredient’ Blue Heaven milkshakes.

Lynch’s Hub
Whether you’re strolling, scootering, skateboarding or riding along the foreshore with the kids, Lynch’s Hub is in the perfect location for an ice-cream stop. A walk down Newcastle’s famous Eat Street wouldn’t be complete without a hand-crafted gelato or sorbet from Monella. Popolo Artisan Gelatiera
Popolo is Italian for ‘people’ and Popolo was born to share the Italian love of traditional gelato with the people. Popolo’s Newcastle store has a glass wall where that you can peer through and watch the gelato makers hard at work whipping up their broad range of flavours. Offering gluten-free cones, vegan and lactose-free options, choosing from a cone, cup or takeaway tub will be the easy part. Choosing a flavour may take a little longer! Scratchley’s Takeaway Window
If you’ve been a Novocastrian for a while, chances are you’ve stopped for an ice-cream from the takeaway window at Newcastle’s iconic Scratchley’s restaurant. Perfectly located, just south of the Newcastle Ferry Wharf, on Wharf Road, it’s hard to walk, scooter, skateboard or ride past without the kids begging for an ice cream stop.
