Enjoy Harbour Views at Foreshore Park in Newcastle

With views of Newcastle Harbour and close to the beach, Foreshore Park is a top spot to visit. It’s a great place for a family picnic with a playground, barbecues and plenty of space for kids to run around. There’s also ponds with ducks and other water birds.

In keeping with the history of the area, there is a play train as well. With trees and sail cloths covering the playground, there’s plenty of shade.

The landscaping around the playground provides plenty of opportunities for kids to use their imagination. When we visited, there were two little boys searching for giant snakes within the rocks and shrubbery!

You can also have fun in the former frog pond. Drained of water, the Frog Pond in Pacific Park has become a popular place for little ones to ride bikes, scooter and skate.

The nearby historical railway Carriage Sheds provide plenty of shelter on rainy or very sunny days with plenty of room for kids to ride scooters or bikes or draw pictures with chalk.

Foreshore Park is set to be completely redeveloped with City of Newcastle currently working on a Masterplan for Foreshore Park. Once finished, it will feature a large all-abilities playground and a water play area.

In the meantime, you can enjoy Foreshore Park by completing the Newy with Kids Foreshore Park scavenger hunt which takes you to different points of interest within the park.
