The Newcastle Show, one of regional Australia’s most iconic agricultural and horticultural events returns to Newcastle Showground from Friday 3 to Sunday 5 March 2023.

Get ready for a weekend of fun. Over three spectacular days, attendees will be treated to an action-packed lineup of entertainment, animal displays, competitions, educational workshops and activations, thrilling rides, showbags, and lots of fun – there’s something for everyone!

It wouldn’t be Newcastle Show without all the fun amusement rides.

Children’s rides start at $6 with the majority of all other rides priced between $7 – $8. The adrenaline rides are priced up to and possibly over $20.

The spectacular fireworks will be staged at 9pm Friday and Saturday nights of Newcastle Show.

This year’s event, powered by Greater Bank, will feature a range of brand-new and much-loved events and attractions, including:

  • Over 80 high-adrenaline amusements, rides, and games
  • Our Community stage  featuring live entertainment
  • Roaming entertainers 
  • Skills, careers and innovation expo, sponsored by the University of Newcastle, featuring a pop-up health clinic and robotics workshop
  • Centre Ring entertainment featuring Hot Wheels, motorbikes, showjumping, and woodchopping
  • HMRI Poo Palace – This is a new giant inflatable that illustrates each stage of the human digestive system. In addition to being able to climb into a huge mouth and pop out a very large bottom, children will also get to participate in live experiments, make their very own playdough poos and pick up a free HMRI showbag while supplies last.*
  • Brand new horticulture precinct, hosting a range of growing and making workshops
  • Delightful agricultural precinct featuring hands-on, educational displays
  • Spectacular fireworks display on Friday and Saturday night
  • Live fashion auctions by Privvy Fashion, Got Your Back Sista and Lifeline Hunter & Central Coast charity shop. The runway show will demonstrate how to style second-hand clothes, and all auction proceeds will go towards Got Your Back Sista and Lifeline Hunter and Central Coast

If you’re after a show bag, there’s plenty to choose from. Showbags range in price depending on the bag that you choose! Bertie Beetle bags can be purchased for $4 and all other bags range between $5 and $30.

Also returning in 2023 is Sparkie’s Challenge, a series of educational and fun challenges hosted by the event’s major sponsor, Greater Bank.

Inspired by SPARK, the bank’s digital platform designed to encourage children to build healthy savings and money management habits, eventgoers can participate in various activities to battle it out for must-win prizes.

 Greater Bank, in conjunction with The University of Newcastle, will also showcase its Finance Academy program to high school students attending The Show on Friday 3 March, as part of the Schools Excursion Program.

The Finance Academy is a financial literacy outreach program delivered to high school students across the Hunter, Central Coast, Central West and Northern regions of NSW.

The Newcastle Show 2023 is powered by Greater Bank and supported by the University of Newcastle, Varley Group, and media partner Southern Cross Austereo’s sibling radio stations, HIIT 106.9 Newcastle and Triple M 102.9 Newcastle.

Newcastle Show runs on:

  • Friday 3 March from 9am to 10pm
  • Saturday 4 March from 9am to 10pm
  • Sunday 5 March from 9am to 5pm

2023 Newcastle Show Ticket Price

Buy online to beat the line and get savings on your ticket price. Presale tickets end Sunday 19 February 2023.

Early Bird Tickets are $25 for adults, $12.50 for kids aged 5 – 16. Kids 4 and under are free but still need a ticket.

You can also do a Family bundle – $60 for 2 adults, 1 child, $65 for 2 adults and 2 children or $70 for 2 adults and 3 children.

Getting to 2023 Newcastle Show

If you plan on driving to Newcastle Show, park in the Wanderers Oval Carpark on the corner of Curley Road & Denney Street in Broadmeadow. It costs $5.00 per car and is available Friday, Saturday 7:30 am – 10:30 pm, and Sunday 7:30 am – 5:30 pm.

You can also use Newcastle Transport to get to Newcastle Show by train or bus.

Newcastle Showground is just across from Broadmeadow Railway Station. Broadmeadow Station is serviced by the Central Coast and Hunter lines. The Showground entry from Brown Road or Curley Road gates is only a 200m walk from the Brown Road exit.

If you’re coming by bus, there are a few options.If you are travelling from Mount Hutton, Charlestown or Adamstown, the Route 28 stops directly out the front Broadmeadow Station. Hop off at Broadmeadow Station, Graham Road and the Showground is only a 350m (4 minute) walk to the Brown Road or Curley Road gates, via the underpass.

There are 3 bus routes terminating at Broadmeadow Station which can be used to get to the Showground. These are route 21 coming from Newcastle East, route 25 coming from Charlestown and route 27 coming from Wallsend. The Showground is only a 450m (6 minute) walk to the Brown Road or Curley Road gates, via the underpass.

If you are travelling from Maryland, Wallsend, Jesmond or Merewether, the Route 12 stops adjacent to Newcastle Showground. Hop off at Chatham Rd at Donald St. It’s a 450m (6 minute) walk to the Brown Road or Curley Road gates.

The route 13 (Glendale to Newcastle CBD, via Cardiff), route 23 (Wallsend to Marketown, via Lambton and Jesmond) and route 26 (Wallsend to Marketown, via Kotara) travel along Lambton Road. Hop off at Lambton Road at Curley Road and the Showground is approximately a 15 minute walk via Broadmeadow Station to the entry gates on Brown Road or Curley Road.
