It finally feels like a return to normal life after a couple of years of Covid. So this Easter, rejoice and celebrate and attend an Easter event in Sydney with your kids in 2023.

While there are Easter events happening locally around Newcastle, we wanted to put together a guide of events in Sydney and beyond to attend. Make the most of the long weekend and enjoy a family Easter escape. There’s tons of fun Easter events to enjoy including the Sydney Royal Easter Show, Easter high teas, Easter egg hunts and other Easter shows. Sydney Royal Easter Show

Why you should go: Australia’s biggest celebration of the country, the Sydney Royal Easter Show is back for 2023 with tickets on sale now. Although the show is described as an agricultural show, it’s much more than that. It’s a celebration of rural and agricultural industry dating back to 1823 and includes animal displays, award-winning produce and crafts.

Some of our favourites include the Farmyard Nursery with over 500 free-range animals you can pat, the Animal Walk where you head in and out of pavilions, to see all the Sydney Royal award-winning animals and farmyard and Food Farm teaches kids everything they need to know about food and fibre, paddock to plate and the importance of our farmers. Sydney Family Show

Why you should go: For a day of fun, head to the Sydney Family Show. It is held at the Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park annually in the April school holidays. There’s heaps of fun for you and kids to enjoy including a bunny hopping competition, animal nursery, live stage shows, carnival rides and of course plenty of show bags.

This year, book your kids in for the Easter Basket Zone where kids will collect goodies from within a white picket fenced area. It’s $12 per child and includes the Easter Egg basket, access to the zone and goodies. 

Fairfield Easter Show

Celebrate Easter at the Fairfield Easter Show. There’s no shortage of fun planned for the Fairfield Easter show including rides, showbags, entertainment, circus shows, reptile show, animal nursery, family movie nights and nightly 8:30pm fireworks. All this plus an Easter Egg Hunt!

Easter Egg Hunt At Golden Ridge Animal Farm

Saturday 8 – Monday 10 April 2023 | Golden Ridge Animal Farm, 686 Old Northern Road, Dural | Tickets are $40 for adult and $40 for child | Website

Why you should go: Let your kids experience the fun of an Easter Egg Hunt at a hands-on and interactive farm in Dural. Kids will first get to milk the cow, cuddle little chicks, ducklings and bunnies and decorate an Easter mask. It’s then onto the main event of an Easter Egg Hunt. Kids will need to search for hidden plastic easter eggs.

They then swap their plastic eggs for an Easter bag containing real chocolate Easter eggs, toys and lollies.  After the hunt, families can do a farm walk and hand feed  chickens, deer, alpacas, goats, ducks and more ($5 a bucket). You can also do a pony ride ($5). Session times for the Easter egg hunt run for two hours. Choose a time that suits you and your family. Tickets are limited so book early to avoid missing out.

Easter in Nature in Centennial Park

Why you should go: During the Easter long weekend, Centennial Park invite families to celebrate Australia’s native plants and animals in this fun-filled and educational program for kids aged between 4 and 10 years. Together with parents, children will be introduced to local flora and fauna through stories, nature based games, and art projects.

In this 1-hour program led by an education ranger, kids engage in nature-based games and art projects celebrating Australia’s native plants and animals, follow trail maps, overcome challenges and connect with the natural world and their community! Families will enjoy a storytime, Native Australian Animal “Egg Hunt” and help Aussie egg-laying animals find their missing eggs, as well as a Hungry Goanna game. Please note: This is not a traditional chocolate egg hunt. Hiding chocolate eggs in the park has an environmental impact on flora and fauna. Session times range from 8:30am to 3:30pm

Easter in Nature at Western Sydney Parklands

Why you should go: On Easter Saturday, Western Sydney Parklands invites families to celebrate Australia’s native plants and animals in this fun-filled and educational program for kids between 4 and 10 years. Together with their parents, children will be introduced to our local flora and fauna through stories, nature based games, and art projects.  Led by theexperienced education team, children will be able roam through the park, follow trails, and create some of our wild inhabitants while connecting with nature. This 1-hour program will open your kids’ eyes to the beautiful outdoors. Session times range from 9am to 4:30pm

Mad Hatters High Tea

Glenworth Valley’s Giant Easter Egg Hunt 2023

Why you should go: Glenworth Valley is the backdrop of Sydney’s biggest Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday. Organise a group of your friends and family and search for over 25,000 chocolate eggs scattered among Glenworth Valley’s magical wilderness. Pack your best Easter costumes, hats & bags and share in a magical morning filled with fun and laughter as baskets are piled high with chocolate and the Easter cheer is spread. Egg collection is for children up to 16 years. Sessions run at 8am, 9am, 10am and 11am.

Hunter Valley Gardens

Sydney Easter Egg Hunt

Why you should go: Take part in the Hunter Valley’s largest Easter Egg Hunt at Hunter Valley Gardens during the Easter Long Weekend. Children can enjoy a special Easter Egg Hunt on Friday 7, Saturday 8 & Sunday 9 April. Easter Egg Hunt tickets are $2 and can only be booked online after purchasing Mega Creatures tickets. Numbers are strictly limited and session times for Easter Egg Hunts are non-transferable. Upon completing the hunt, each child will receive 1 Easter chocolate. Special 10am hunt for children 6yrs and under.

In addition to the hunt, there’s tons of activities for kids to enjoy over the long weekend includinganimatronic Mega Creatures which is on during the school holidays and the rides of Hunter Valley Gardens to enjoy.

Jamberoo

Sunday 9 April 2023 | Jamberoo | Adult: $60, Child $50 ( 4 – 12 years old), Under 4 are free | Website

Why you should go: Make a weekend of it and head south to Jamberoo water-theme park in Wollongong for some Easter fun. This season, they will continue the trend of recent years with individually prepared bags of chocolate Easter eggs being handed out to all children aged 4-12 years when they enter the park. This helps with safety measures, adds a personal touch and a photo opportunity, and means all children will get their own special bag of eggs.

Be early! From 10 – 11am the Easter Bunny and Sammy the Shark will start handing out the eggs and they will be available for photos near the park entrance – so bring your camera and share the fun with #jamberooactionpark on Facebook and Instagram. There will also be Shaunicus the Magician from 9.45am – 12.45pm, an Easter Hamper Guessing Competition, and other competitions and giveaways around Outback Bay all day long!
